Tide and Seek
Maps of Maine
that
Clean our Shore

Tide and Seek merges washed-ashore parts from today's non-biodegradable lobster traps with traditional Maine beach treasures to create customizable artwork celebrating coastal Maine.

Each year, as many as 10% of all lobster traps and gear are lost to storms, boat propellers and attrition.  Some remain intact (known as "ghost traps") on the ocean floor. Some make it to shore undamaged.  Most arrive on shore in splintered parts - often in a tangled mix of rope and seaweed.

Tide and Seek recycles the trap debris (pictured here, snarled traps and rope cleared and recycled from Kennebunkport's Cleave's Cove)  into artwork celebrating the State of Maine.

The rope, wire, netting, buoy fragments, and even tags from snarled, splintered lobster traps are combined with sea glass, sea urchins, sand dollars, clam, crab and lobster shells to create Maps of Maine and other nautically themed artwork.

Without exception, everything featured in Tide and Seek artwork first washed ashore somewhere along the coast of Kennebunkport.

Available in roughly three sizes, our Maps of Maine make a creative gift option that also cleans up our shoreline and gives back to the local arts and fishing community.   Whether a Mother's Day, Father's Day, wedding, anniversary - or even house warming - gift, our Maps of Maine can be customized to include a first name, last name, street name, zip code or date.  Maps of Maine go well in any foyer or mudroom, bedroom or kitchen of a Maine summer home. Or even mounted in that year-round residence to remind you what pulls your return each summer.

Customization varies by frame size, but I can typically accommodate personalized requests of five to seven letters or numbers.

From Cleave's Cove to Vaughn Island, Turbat's Creek to Goose Rocks Beach, everything  featured in Tide and Seek artwork was discovered on low tide adventures along expanded shorelines and tidal islands of Kennebunkport.

Tide and Seek is committed to giving back. Your purchase will directly impact two local organizations vital to the communities of Kennebunk and Kennebunkport.

Twenty-five percent (25%) of all Tide and Seek artwork sales will be equally donated to area non-profits Maine Lobsterman's Association (MLA) and River Tree Arts (RTA).
